How it began
It was through my grandmother's crochet that I discovered the world of sewing and fashion.
For as long as I can remember, I've always seen her sewing, threading, darning, creating and working with her hands.
Sewing was her profession, but in my childhood eyes, it was just her thing.
I'd never thought of sewing or crochet as a profession, but little by little I began to repeat her gestures, and they became mine day after day.
Sometimes she would tell me stories about her sister, who was an expert in crochet, much to the chagrin of my grandmother, who lacked patience in the matter. I was astonished to discover my great aunt's doilies for the first time. They looked so fragile, so delicate, almost woven like silk thread. Each ornament was detailed, intricate with a perfect circularity and a lightness that only cotton could create.
I waited a long time to touch a hook, and the day I did, I couldn't stop.
Then the years went by and one day my grandmother left.
Strangely enough, it was when I lost her that I found my way.
I started to create, as if I didn't want to forget her and relive those precious moments marked in my memory with a red thread.
'Double the thread' she used to say to me....
To my grandmother Antoinette and her sister Bérénice.
